Hearts and more

February News from the art room!

February was full of heart artworks for all the grades. Students learned about Pop Artist Jim Dine. They created artworks in his style.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten has been working on Hearts. They traced a large heart and then added more hearts, lines, designs and colors with crayons. They finished them up by painting over them with liquid watercolors.

Kindergarten has also been working on Winter Sunsets. They used Chalk Pastels to create a sunset and added in silhouettes with black construction paper. The kids loved making a mess while creating these beautiful artworks!

First Grade

Fun making Jim Dine Hearts!

First Graders also worked on Ice Cream Cones. In this art project, students used Primary Colors (red, yellow and blue) to create Secondary Colors (orange, green, purple). After painting the colors, they created ice cream tracers, cut out the shapes and put them on top of a cone. Sprinkles and a cherry were added to really make them look delicious. YUM!

Second Grade

Second grade made Jim Dine Hearts too!

Second Grade has been making robots. In this project, they are learning about line, balance, shape, color and of course using their imaginations to create these cool robots! Students finished off the robots by naming them gluing them on black construction paper.
