Pumpkins at night

Second graders learned about color mixing as they mixed primary colors together to create an orange pumpkin and green leaves.

The next art class they detailed their pumpkin and leaves with construction paper crayons and oil pastels. Students also created a background for their pumpkin.

Finally, the pumpkins and leaves were cut out and glued onto the black background. Extra details were added and a colored frame completed the artwork.

Fall leaves

First graders are working on an artwork for their upcoming concert. In this artwork they are learning about different color groups. The color groups are warm, cool and neutral. We started out looking at artworks and talking about the colors in the artist used. We then looked at different kinds of leaves and the colors in them. The class finished up by tracing leaves and making sure the space was filled.

The next class we reviewed color groups and began coloring the leaves in warm colors.

In the final class the black frame was glued on and the background was water colored in using cool colors.

Second grade Sunshine and lines

Second graders get the special privilege of decorating part of our school for all to see.  In this artwork students are learning about line and emphasis.  Suns were drawn, lines were added and watercolor was used to paint the lines.  They used metallic yellow paint to really make the Suns stand out.
