Disney Castles

The art project for the second grade concert had to be eye-catching and I think these delivered!
The first week students got to "blow" neon colored paint all over their paper to put on the first layer of fireworks. Many kids got dizzy while doing it, but said it was fun.

During the last part of class, the kids drew a castle on black paper.

It was fun to see the huge variety and creativity in what they drew.

The second week students got to choose a colored frame and glued it on to their art. A second layer of fireworks were added using oil pastels.

The final week was so exciting! The castles were cut out and glued on the paper. A liberal amount of glitter was added to make these Disney castles really "pop"!  Fantastic job second grade!!

These castles were so spectacular for the concert!! The gym looked great !

Colorful Dot

So much learning took place in this art project. I love how they all turned out!

We started out reading the book The Dot and drew our own dot in either warm or cool colors. The kids were pretty excited because they got to "scribble"!

We talked about what printmaking is and what patterns were. We then got busy printing patterns on the dot. Boy was it a fun mess!

The final step was to cut the dot out, glue it on, add a border and complete with 4 small dots in the corners.

Vincent VanGogh Flowers

We began this project looking at Van Gogh art and looking at books of his art. We drew the vase, added flowers and began to color with oil pastels.

The next week we colored the vase and fisnished up our flowers. A colored frame was also added.

The final week was spent outlining the pencil lines with black pastel. This really made the flowers "pop"!
The table and background were painted with water colors.

I am so proud of how absolutely beautiful these turned out!! Fabulous job first graders!
